Galaxidiotiko - a marine jewel

Mythical mermaids decorate the entrance main door in pride, gaze upon part of the city’s fortification dating back to the 4th century, welcoming you to a unique place that reflects the rich tradition of this valuable and historic marine village.

Main floor

“Galaxidiotiko” – a boat under sails ready to take you to picturesque harbours and bays; a home dedicated to the sea and the marine tradition of our nation, which at every corner conceals its small treasures that reward your eyes and travel you backwards, through the years.

On the walls collections of paintings, boats, hulls, fish, personal artistic approaches of the owner and memorabilia refer to the old good seamanship and form a unique nautical décor.

Fireplace corner

The fireplace corner offers a warm nest during the winter months. Remember to ask for adequate upplies of wood timely to cover your needs for the whole duration of your stay.

Attic bedroom

The master bedroom “climbs up” by a wooden staircase to the small, cozy attic

Basement

A massive rock dominates the basement of the house rock being decorated with pitchers and other ceramics. The stunning stone-built staircase –leading to the underground storeroom of the old grocery shop that is preserved and decorated with small treasures collected from the bottom of the sea – blends harmoniously with the amber floor tiles, that the owners chose to keep at their original place.

Kitchen

On your way down to the basement, the inviting living room area with the traditional sofa and the coffee table made by a door/porthole standing on bronze anchor legs, welcomes you to sit, relax and enjoy a cup of tea or scented coffee. The walls are decorated by fitted shelves with glass containers and jars filled with goodies that convey you to the days and times that this area was a traditional grocery store offering all around mouthwatering rewards.

Τhe basement also hosts the kitchen corner, fully equipped, for you to prepare your breakfast and for the lovers of cooking to try their luck with the local recipes.

Bathroom

Spacious, in all shades of blue, decorated with beautiful sea related art-crafts, all created and arranged by the hands of the owner, herself, having as main theme a lifejacket that hangs over the shower with dozens of shells put together with extra care, to form the name of the house, “Galaxidiotiko”
